Questions & Answers
Booking & services
-
Choose the service that best fits your main goal—hydration, acne care, anti-aging, glow enhancement, or maintenance. Your esthetician will assess your skin at the start of your appointment and customize the treatment within the structure of the service you booked.
-
If a different service is more appropriate for your skin, your esthetician will explain the recommendation. If you choose to switch, you're always welcome to do so.
-
Yes. Every treatment is tailored to your skin type, condition, and goals—within the structure of the service booked.
-
Each service has a defined protocol and inclusions. For example, our Classic Facial does not include extractions. Customization happens inside the framework of that service.
-
All appointments at City Glow NYC must be booked online through our secure booking system. We require a credit card on file to confirm your reservation, which ensures your appointment slot is reserved exclusively for you and helps us maintain our scheduling efficiency.
-
We require at least 12 hours notice for appointment cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 12 hours notice will incur a full service charge. We understand that emergencies happen and appreciate your cooperation in respecting our estheticians' time and other clients waiting for appointments.
-
Yes — and this happens often. The best approach is to book a longer facial (like any VIP facial) to make sure enough time is reserved for you. During your appointment, your esthetician can always adjust, shorten, or fully customize the treatment based on your skin and your needs that day. What matters most is having enough time allocated — everything else can be tailored once you’re in.
-
You book your appointment the same way you normally would — just choose your treatment and schedule your time. There’s no special booking process for vouchers.
Payment is handled after your facial, where we apply your membership voucher.
Skin care philosophy
-
We are a skin health studio, not a "menu-based" facial salon. Our work is rooted in clinical skin analysis, long-term skin improvement, and advanced treatment planning—not quick trend treatments.
-
Our estheticians are trained in both European and American skin therapy systems, combining European technique, discipline, and protocols with American innovation, technology, and skin science.
-
Yes. Acne care, barrier repair, hydration therapy, and skin rehabilitation are core specialties at City Glow.

-
Yes, City Glow NYC is committed to using high-quality natural and organic skincare products. We carefully select products that are effective, skin-safe, and feature clean, natural ingredients that deliver exceptional results without harsh chemicals.
Extractions, techniques & treatments
-
No. Extractions are only included in services designed for them. Some facials focus on hydration, calming, lifting, or skin strengthening rather than deep cleansing.
-
If clinically appropriate, your esthetician may recommend upgrading to a service that includes extractions.
-
We prioritize skin integrity, barrier health, and long-term results over aggressive short-term results.
-
We follow a European approach to extractions — precise, thorough, and results-driven. Our estheticians use professional tools and technique to deeply cleanse congested pores while keeping your skin safe and balanced. Extractions are always done carefully and only when appropriate — we never force anything that isn’t ready. That said, we are known for being very detailed and intentional with deep pore work. Our team takes real pride in acne care, and the goal is always to leave your skin visibly clearer, calmer, and properly treated — not irritated or overworked.
-
Yes — post-care is essential for your results. We always walk you through it during your visit and it’s also included in your consent forms, but the basics are simple: keep your skin hydrated, use a gentle moisturizer, and apply sunscreen consistently. Avoid workouts, heat (like saunas), and sweating for at least 24 hours. Stay out of direct sun while your skin is healing, and avoid active ingredients until your skin fully recovers.
-
Yes. We carry a curated selection of healing and barrier-repair products specifically chosen for post-treatment care. After treatments like microneedling or peels, your skin needs calming, hydration, and support — not actives. We’ll guide you in-person and recommend exactly what your skin needs to heal properly and get the best results.
-
Plan your timing — both treatments require a short healing period.
Microneedling typically takes about 3–4 days to recover (not see full results, bit for redness go away), so it’s best not to schedule it right before an important event. Give your skin at least 5 days to fully settle. Many clients (especially brides) do a series in advance because the results are some of the most noticeable — smoother, brighter, and more radiant skin.
Peels are often called “no-peel peels,” but you may still experience light flaking — like very fine, subtle shedding over a few days. Your skin will look fresh and renewed, but makeup may not sit perfectly during the healing window, usually around days 3–7.
If timing matters, plan ahead — your skin looks best once it’s fully healed.
Spray tans
-
Make sure your skin is completely clean and dry — no lotions, oils, or creams on the body or neck before your appointment. Avoid applying spray tan over active skincare ingredients like retinol or acne treatments, especially on the face — we usually recommend skipping facial tanning in those cases. Shaving or waxing should be done at least 2–5 days prior to allow the skin to fully settle. Freshly exfoliated, product-free skin will give you the most even and long-lasting result.
-
We customize tone, depth, undertone, and solution type for each client. No "one color fits all." Our organic formula has no color, no smell, and no bronze tint upon application. You can receive your spray tan and immediately go about your day without any transfer or residue.
-
No. Our formulations are designed to match skin undertones and fade naturally.
-
All of our shades are designed to look natural and skin-like — we don’t offer extreme, bodybuilder-level dark tans.
Our darkest option is a Custom Double Dark, which gives a deeper, richer bronze, but still looks even, natural, and refined. The goal is a healthy, sun-kissed depth rather than an overly dark or artificial finish.
-
Typically 7–10 days with proper care.
-
Both Rapid and Custom spray tans last the same amount of time. The difference is not in longevity, but in how the color develops. A Rapid tan allows you to rinse sooner (typically 1–4 hours depending on your desired depth), while a Custom tan develops over a longer period (8–12+ hours). Once fully developed, both fade evenly over about 7-10 days with proper care.
-
Yes—custom, express, and organic solutions are available.
-
Organic spray tan develops into a very natural, soft glow. It’s especially suited for fair, porcelain skin — think a subtle, even tone enhancement rather than a dramatic color change. The result is light, fresh, and skin-like, not overly bronzed.
If you’re looking for a deeper, more noticeable tan, a Custom spray tan (like Double Dark) would be a better choice, as it gives a richer and more defined result.
-
Yes — both Organic and Custom spray tans follow a similar development window, with a minimum of 8 hours and up to 24 hours before rinsing. The key difference is in the formula and finish. Organic spray tans are clear (no bronzer), so you can go about your day without visible color transfer — ideal for work or daytime plans. They’re also considered a gentler option for the skin. However, because there’s no guide color, it requires more awareness during the development period.
-
Yes. Because the solution is clear, you won’t see where it’s applied — which means you need to be extra mindful during development. Avoid sweating, water exposure, or anything that could interfere with the tan setting evenly. Since there’s no instant color, you won’t have immediate feedback, so staying dry and careful is key. The final result is very natural, subtle, and even-toned — typically a softer, more “your skin but better” glow.
